A local group, run by volunteers, which provides a venue for events, clubs and other activities, will receive a financial boost from us this week.

Lordshill Community Association is a non-profit organisation based in the heart of the Lordshill estate. Its centre is a popular local hub, and is hired out at low cost to those living in the area.

“We’ve been in desperate need of a new pressure washer and hosepipe to help keep our entire centre clean and tidy,” said Lordshill Community Association chair, David Parker.

“Our only revenue comes from hiring our venue out and, with the rising costs of gas and electricity, a centre of our size costs a substantial amount of money to run. We learned of Bluestar’s community fund, and applied for some funding.

“We were delighted to receive £250, which will go a long way to buying a new washer. And the wider community will also benefit from this because we’ll hire it out for a small donation to anyone needs it.

“Without the support of businesses like Bluestar we would struggle to replace such important tools. Over the years, the community centre has seen many negative  changes but myself and my management team are making huge steps in changing this, and we can’t thank Bluestar enough for this amazing donation given today.”

Andy Shaw, our operations manager, added: “Lordshill Community Association is a hugely important resource for local people. It’s also based right in the heart of an area where we provide vital transport links.

“It’s so important that local people can benefit from an organisation like this, and I’m pleased out community fund has been put to such good use here.”
