Our managing director Andrew Wickham joined Cllr Eamonn Keogh from Southampton City Council in Castle Way this week - to celebrate the opening of our new travel shop.

The shop has moved from its previous location in Bargate Street to a different building, closer to the forthcoming bus hub - which is currently under construction.

“We know not everybody has access to our social media channels and website, and some like to visit us in person to get information and details of our services,” said our managing director, Andrew Wickham.

“Our travel shop is now right at the heart of the new Albion Place bus hub, which Southampton City Council is working hard to complete - so it provides our customers with a convenient resource where they can get information and advice from our team.

“People also buy tickets - as well as claiming lost property here. Many will recognise the familiar faces of Tim and Phil - and they’re looking forward to showing off the new premises.

“I was delighted to welcome Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Cllr Eamonn Keogh as we cut the ribbon today. Bluestar enjoys an excellent working partnership with Southampton City Council, and this is vitally important as we look to encourage more people to leave their cars at home and travel by bus instead.

“We have made a number of improvements to our operation here over recent years - including the introduction of a brand new fleet of low emissions buses. Our new travel shop and the bus hub will make sustainable travel in Southampton even easier. And, with one double decker having the potential to take up to 75 cars off our roads, we have a great opportunity to help reduce congestion and improve air quality across the city.”

Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Cllr Eamonn Keogh, added:

“I was excited to be at the opening of Bluestar’s fantastic new travel shop, which is a great facility in a superb location that will help so many people. Together, Bluestar and the council have been working in partnership to make buses a more attractive choice for people through new investment such as in this fantastic new facility, new buses and new bus priority infrastructure as well as fare offers such as our 5 for £5 group offer, £1 evening fare and the national £2 single fare cap, all of which you can learn more about in the travel shop.”

Our new Bluestar shop is located in Castle Way Southampton - next to bus stop BD - and is open Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm.
