One of our bus drivers James Headland is celebrating this week - after being named as our Employee of the Year.
James, who is described as a valued member of the team and an exceptional driver, is a mental health champion - playing an important role in supporting others.
“James is dependable, honest, and consistently will to go the extra mile,” said Bluestar managing director, Ed Wills.
“His loyalty extends, not only to Bluestar as a company, but also to his colleagues. He finds time to listen, guide, and help those who may be struggling, whilst demonstrating compassion and understanding in everything he does.
“James’ professionalism and kindness are also frequently recognised by our customers. One particularly touching example highlights the difference he makes. He was assisting a passenger whose husband was living with dementia. Unfortunately, the man became distressed whilst she was trying to collect his medication from the pharmacist. James calmly stepped in to help.
“He offered patience and reassurance, and helped to settle the situation - enabling our customer to proceed with collecting the medication.
“James is an outstanding ambassador for Bluestar, and his positive impact on our team members and customers, is truly commendable.
“Congratulations James. This award is truly deserved, and I wish you every success for the year ahead.”
James Headland added: “I was in shock when they told me that I’d won Employee of the Year. I genuinely didn’t expect it at all. I’m incredibly happy and proud - it’s an amazing feeling to be recognised like this. I really enjoy what I do, so to receive this award means a great deal to me.”
James also received the award for third place overall in parent company Go South Coast’s Employee of the Year awards. In recognition of his efforts, James received £3000 worth of vouchers and framed certificates. Congratulations James!
