Our surprise visit to Busikids nursery

Young bus enthusiasts at a Southampton nursery and preschool recently received a surprise visit from us at Bluestar.
We took a bus from our latest fleet to Busikids Day Nursery and Preschool in Hedge End, so the youngsters could sit in the driver’s cab and enjoy a comfy seat on-board.
“We were pleased to visit Busikids to show them how exciting bus travel is - and to explain to them what type of buses they might see when they are older,” said Bluestar’s Rob George.
“It is always good to see such interest and fascination from children when they have a chance to hop on-board a bus. Today, they also had the chance to be the driver - although the bus was, of course, stationary at the time.
Buses provide us with an excellent opportunity to help improve the region’s air quality - with a fully loaded double decker capable of removing up to 75 cars off the road - so this was a wonderful opportunity to get future generations on-board. Our newest buses are also fitted with Euro 6, low emissions, engines - which are cleaner than the engine of a new diesel car.
Talking to children about buses and seeing how much they enjoyed their time on-board was very encouraging for the future. Looking forwards, we are committed to working with the local authority to improve bus travel here still further - and we look forward to seeing these new young customers many more times over the coming years.
Louise Fuller of Busikids Nursery and preschool, added: “The little ones were so excited by the visit and to also be able to get on board and even press the stop button and horn! Some children had not been so close to a bus, let alone been inside one, so this was a great experience.
“This visit gave all the children something new to talk about and to understand that lots of people and travel together, it also helped them to not be nervous of bus trips in the future. Thank you Bluestar.”
