West Quay bus stop closures during Albion Place/Castle Way works
3 months ago
As part of the the Transforming Cities Plan put into place by Southampton City and Hampshire County Councils, Albion Place/Castle Way is being transformed into a bus hub. These works will increase the number of available bus stops, create a safe space with new waiting facilities including seating and live travel information, and provide an urban park that complements the city's heritage whilst strengthening the connection with the historic city walls. This, alongside the traffic restrictions that came into place in late 2023, will reduce congestion in the city centre and improve air quality through increased quality and use of sustainable transport. Click here to find out more about the works.
Albion Place/Castle Way will remain open during this time, but for passenger safety, stops BJ and BD (Southampton, West Quay) will be closed from Tuesday 28 May until the works are complete and the hub opens. Buses will still follow their normal route along Castle Way, but customers will have to board their bus at either Vincents Walk or Holyrood Church as alternative stops.
Routes 10, 13, 15, 17 and 19 will be affected. Please check your timetables carefully to see what time buses leave from the alternative stops.
