Brand new Southampton bus routes launch event!

Yesterday we held a launch event at the Bargate in Southampton. We are so grateful to everyone who managed to come down and see us to find out more and give feedback and encouraging comments. We were joined by the Lord Mayor of Southampton Jacqui Rayment as well as the leader of Southampton City Council, councillor Satvir Kaur at the special launch in the city.

Following First Bus' decision to withdraw from Southampton, we stepped in to provide additional services. Our six new services began this week and so far they have been well received by those living along the routes, especially in Harefield where residents decorated bus stops in the area as a surprise celebration for the launch.

Both the Lord Mayor, the Southampton City Council leader and our managing director Andrew Wickham made speeches at the launch. Andrew stated that "we can promise those living in and visiting Southampton can now look forward to an exciting new era in bus services here."

We have recruited more than 140 new drivers in the past couple of months in order to expand our operation and ensure that our local community in all corners of the city is able to keep moving. We are now running the following new services:

Bluestar 10 (previously City Red 9) City Centre to Sholing

Bluestar 13 (previously City Red 13) City Centre to Harefield

Bluestar 14 (previously City Red 8) City Centre to Hedge End

Bluestar 15 (previously City Red 6) City Centre to Hamble

Bluestar 19 (previously City Red 3) Thornhill to Lordshill

Bluestar 20 (previously City Red 7) City Centre to Townhill Park
