16 brand new double deckers for Bluestar 2 and 7!

We have invested almost £5 million in 16 brand new double deckers for our fleet and these have been arriving over the past few weeks!

These new buses will primarily serve the Bluestar 2 from Southampton to Fair Oak via Portswood, Swaythling and Eastleigh and the Bluestar 7 from Lordshill to Sholing via General Hospital, Milbrook, Shirley, Southampton and Woolston. Keep an eye out if you're travelling on these routes!

They are British-built ADL Enviro 400 double deckers, and they cement our commitment to lowering emissions across the region. Each of the vehicles sports the latest Euro 6 low emissions engine, the newest and cleanest standard for diesel. Did you know? These engines release fewer emissions than the average diesel car! 

These buses have a striking new look on board, with lighter, dementia friendly flooring, comfy seating and a more spacious seating layout. The aim is to make sustainable transport a more attractive proposition, in order to entice people out of their cars. One full double decker bus can take up to 75 cars off the road - and this investment is a huge step in that direction.

They also offer additional comfort for every passenger travelling on them - as well as being far kinder to the environment, these impressive new Alexander Dennis E400 double decker buses include on-board technology like standard USB and USB C charging points and contactless, tap on tap off payment facilities.

Alongside these new vehicles, we will be making further improvements to our overall fleet with 18 almost new single decker buses and 11 refurbished double deckers to use across the network.
