Job Vacancy: Cleaner/bus shunter
Location: Southampton Depot
Working Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 6 pm to 2 Am (40-hour week)
Rate of Pay: £15.95 per hour with PSV licence, without PSV £13.45 per hour
Must Have: PSV driving licence or driving licence
We are looking for a reliable and dedicated Shunter/Cleaner to join our team at our Southampton Depot. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that our buses are cleaned, fuelled, and ready for the next day's operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning the Buses:
- Wash the exterior of the buses, ensuring they are clean and presentable.
- Clean the interior, including vacuuming seats, wiping down surfaces, and removing any waste or litter.
- Ensure that windows, mirrors, and lights are clean and in good condition.
- Fuelling the Buses:
- Check fuel levels as buses return to the yard.
- Refuel buses to ensure they are ready for the following day's journeys, following safety protocols.
- Parking the Buses:
- Park buses in designated spots within the yard, ensuring proper alignment and safety.
- Keep the parking area organised, allowing easy access for departures the next day.
- Double-check that buses are shut off, handbrakes applied, and doors securely closed.
- Pre-Inspection:
- Conduct basic checks on buses, including ensuring lights and signals are functional, and checking fluid levels (e.g., oil, water).
- Reporting Issues:
- Report any damage or maintenance issues to the supervisor or maintenance team to ensure repairs are made promptly.
Requirements:
- PSV Driving License or car license
- Strong attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently.
- Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential.
