Eastleigh-based engineer Michael Bendell is celebrating this week - after being named employee of the year by local bus operator, Bluestar.
Praised for dedication, professionalism and enthusiasm for his work, Michael is highly respected by his colleagues and managers alike.
He was also named employee of the year for Bluestar’s parent company Go South Coast, and was presented with his awards by managing director Andrew Wickham at the company’s annual ceremony.
“From the very beginning of his career as an apprentice engineer, Michael has excelled - both academically and practically,” said Andrew Wickham. “In fact, he was named top apprentice in 2012/13, and he hasn’t looked back since.
“One example of his professionalism was when he was asked to represent the business at the Ageas Bowl for a careers open day.
“Michael spent the time sharing his experiences with those interested in engineering. After the event, the organisers contacted us - praising Michael for the way he enthused those attending, with his knowledge and openness.
“That praise, coupled with his consistent efforts to ensure our buses run out each morning in tip top conditions, means this award is richly-deserved.
“Congratulations Michael - I wish you a very successful year and career ahead.”
In recognition of his efforts, Michael received £3,500 worth of vouchers and two weeks’ additional leave, along with his framed certificates.
