Remembrance Day Road Closures
Across the country on Sunday 10th November, Remembrance services and parades will be held in memory of those lost in conflict.
To help you plan your journey, we've compiled a list of Remembrance Services in the areas our buses run, including any road closures and diversions we may need to take.
Road Closure: 10:45-11:15am
Botley Square will be closed to traffic between 10:45 and 11:15am. The only service that could be affected is the 09:40 departure from Southampton, which is due at Botley at around 10:30am, so as long as the bus does not run more than 10 minutes late, it will be able to serve all stops as normal. If it is late, it will divert via Homesland Lane between Broad Oak and Winchester Road and will be unable to serve Botley School and Botley Square bus stops.
No other buses should be affected.
Road Closure: 10:30am to 12:30pm
Fair Oak Square will be closed between 10:30 and 12:30, affecting Bluestar 2 and 3.
Bluestar 2 from Winchester Road after the Witt Road bus stop, will turn right into Summerlands Road, and wait at a temporary (unmarked) stop towards the end of the road outside the shops by the telephone box. From there, buses will turn right into Fair Oak Road for normal route back towards Eastleigh.
Bluestar 3 09:40 and 11:00 departures from Southampton will divert from Botley Road onto Eastleigh Road to Fair Oak Road and will miss the Square bus stop. 11:00 from Eastleigh will do the same in reverse.
Road Closures: 7am-2pm
Above Bar Street (between KFC/Sprinkles and the Cenotaph) and Commercial Road (between Havelock Road and Above Bar Street) will be closed to traffic from 7am until around 2pm, affecting Bluestar 1, 2, 4, 7, 17, 18, 19 and Unilink U1 and U2.
Buses will divert around the area using a combination of Civic Centre Road, Havelock Road and Cumberland Place and will be unable to serve the Art Gallery, Cenotaph and Civic Centre bus stops. Alternatives are outside the BBC Studios (for Bluestar 1, 2, U1A outbound and Bluestar 4, 7, 17 and 18 towards Shirley) and Sea City Museum (for Bluestar 1, 2, U1C inbound and Bluestar 7, 17, 18 and 19 from Central Station). U2C is unaffected, but U2B will be unable to serve the Art Gallery and Cenotaph stops. Alternatives are outside Mayflower Halls or on London Road
Rolling Road Closures: Commercial Road and Salisbury Road: 10:00-10:30am and 11:20-11:45am
Bluestar 8 from Hythe would be due at Totton Precinct at 10am, but will instead divert via Totton Bypass between Rushington Roundabout and Redbridge Roundabout, meaning it will be unable to serve Batts Corner, Totton Centre and Totton Station. Your nearest stop will be Rushington Roundabout at about 0950.
Bluestar 11 and 12 will not be required to divert, and will instead follow the back of the parade as it moves from the town centre to the memorial car park and vice versa. Buses could end up running up to 10 minutes late because of this, but it was decided diverting away from the area is likely to cause the same level of delay whilst also missing large sections of the route, which is less ideal. It should only affect the 1000 and 1100 Bluestar 12 from Southampton and the 0957 Bluestar 11 from West Totton, Michigan Way.
Road Closures: Silver Hill 6am-6pm and Winchester Broadway 9am-midday
Silver Hill will be closed all day, so after the Bus Station, the next stop will be Jewry Street / Barclays Bank, as we will be unable to serve the one by M&S/Sainsbury's. Additionally, between 9am and midday, Winchester Broadway will be closed, so buses will enter the bus station via the rear entrance. A supervisor will be on hand to help turn buses.
