Bobbies on the bus

Bluestar and Hampshire Constabulary's partnership to make police services more accessible to local people will be in action again this December.
Bluestar first teamed up with Hampshire Constabulary for a trial back in July to make police services even more accessible to those living in Totton and surrounding areas.
Following another successful session in November, we're going to be regularly welcoming uniformed police officers on-board our vehicles - giving passengers the opportunity to chat to them or ask questions about issues or concerns in their local community.
“Buses provide the perfect opportunity for people to chat informally with community police in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Bluestar head of communications, Nikki Honer.
“We see it as a sort of mobile beat surgery - providing easy access for anyone wishing to discuss local issues of any kind that police officers might be able to help with. And this fits in well with our chatty bus scheme, which is all about encouraging people to talk to each other.
Connor De Mornay from Hampshire Constabulary, added: “I will be in the Totton and Calmore area, on Friday 13th December, riding on the 10:00 and 10:40 Bluestar 12 from Totton RC Church towards Calmore and the 10:13 and 10:53 Bluestar 12 from Calmore back to Totton centre. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone on-board.
“This is an excellent opportunity for us to become more visible and accessible within the local area. Sometimes, local people may have questions or concerns but don’t have time to come and see us. This way, they can have a chat whilst they are travelling to work or to the shops.
“On a bus, our team can talk to several people in one go - allowing us to help more local people than we may otherwise be able to do. Our officers are human beings, they are there to assist - and we’re very much looking forward to meeting bus passengers later this month."
