36 years of commuting ends for Maggie

A special presentation has been made after a passenger tipped us off here at Bluestar that one of our customers
was to retire from teaching and end 36 years of commuting daily from Winchester to the Thornden School in Chandlers Ford.

Maggie Allder, a Year Head and Religious studies teacher, is retiring at the age of 59 at the end of the term in
July - ending over 3 decades of commuting on the route, now branded Bluestar 1.

To thank Maggie for her commitment to public transport, Bluestar’s Assistant Operations Manager Steve Cuff
arranged with the school’s Deputy Head teacher Sue Whelan, to present a model of the latest bus and flowers in the presence of year 10 students.

“The presentation was a pleasant surprise,” said Maggie. “Over the years the reliability of the bus services has fluctuated but to be fair the current service works like clockwork.” Steve Cuff said that he was delighted to have the chance to thank a very loyal customer who has almost continually used the bus service:

“With over 617,000 people using our network each month we cannot know how many more people can match Maggie’s continuous use of a bus service over such a long length of time.”
