We obviously need to ensure we run a sustainable bus service. This is not helped by the continual and sharp increases to the cost of fuel, which is vital to run our buses and unfortunately is the main reason why we are having to increase the price of single and return fares from Sunday 27 April 2008.
Most single and return fares will increase by 10p, some by 20p whilst others will not change.
In Southampton, the £1.30 inner Southampton fare increases to £1.50 and the outer Southampton fare of £1.70 is frozen.
On Bluestar 18, we remain the cheapest operator on the entire stretch of route.
The maximum fare of £1.30, for any journey after 7pm Monday to Thursday, will remain available within the Southampton area only.
It will no longer be available for journeys outside the Southampton area or those crossing to/from the city border. Normal fares will apply on these journeys.

However, there’s some great news for regular customers.
We really appreciate how important our regular customers are to us and to ensure we remain a value for money option for commuters, for example, we will continue to freeze the cost of all our day and week passes in the Dayrider and Freedom range.
Remember that a Dayrider pass may be cheaper than buying two single fares.
