On 1st April 2008, the new National FREE Concessionary Bus Fares Scheme for those aged over 60 comes into effect.

Passes will be valid for travel across England between 09.30 and 23.00hrs - Monday to Friday and all day weekends and public holidays on local bus services, including all Bluestar, Baby Bluestar and Solent Shuttle services. We particularly look forward to welcoming residents previously having to pay for journeys that go outside of their local area, such as Southampton residents, who can now travel to destinations as Winchester, Romsey, the Waterside and Portsmouth on our extensive network around South Hampshire – free of charge!

Some Local Councils allow local residents to travel additionally outside the times mentioned. Please contact your local authority for further information and for details on how to apply for your pass – their details can be found within the concessionary fares section.
