We are very sorry for the delays to our services due to the traffic congestion caused by road works on the M27 and on other main routes in the region. The timing of the traffic chaos is especially bad for our services, as we introduced major changes to their network this past Sunday 24 February. Alex Hornby, our Operations Manager said that it was currently difficult to monitor how the new timetable was performing in terms of punctuality as congestion was delaying some rush hour buses by anything up to 30 minutes.
“I am very sorry to those passengers who have their journeys delayed or find they arrive late, and we can confirm our fellow operators have also been experiencing the same difficulties,” said Alex. “I would advise customers to catch an earlier bus if possible to ensure that they reach their destination in good time and view our website or call our information line for updated news on the situation, although as the week has progressed delays are beginning to ease.”
“We also note that many of our buses are very busy at this time and we are continually looking at ways of increasing capacity on bluestar 3 and the college and school services on babybluestar C. I apologise for these issues and assure you that matters should improve shortly as we attract additional resources into our operation. Please keep any direct feedback coming to us so we can identify further issues that can be improved.”
“We will obviously continue to closely monitor the situation. Should the long-term road works on the M27 continue to disrupt bus times, some routes may be forced to have revised timetables to accommodate the extra time required to make the journey, but we hope this will not be necessary.”
