ikea bluestar instructions

Ikea by bluestar

IKEA is set to take Southampton by storm, as the Scandanavian retail giant arrives in the city centre.

The new flagship store has a massive 34,000 sq metres of floor space on 4 levels and stocks some 9,200 items. The Market Hall is one of the biggest in the UK! There's a 600-seat restaurant serving famous Swedish meatballs, a Bistro, Café and a Swedish Food Market.

Using Bluestar makes shopping at IKEA even easier. With IKEA's home delivery service, there is no need to carry large or heavy items back home, so getting the bus will make your visit hassle-free.

getting there and back

All Bluestar buses stop within a 5-10 minute walk of IKEA.

What’s more, as most of our buses run during evenings and on Sundays, you can avoid the busiest times.

As the IKEA Car Park only has 900 spaces, it’s going to be a struggle to park and avoid expected traffic congestion along West Quay Road (where the only car park entrance is located). Luckily, all our routes into the city centre avoid West Quay Road and lead to enhanced pedestrian routes right to the store entrance.

Get off our buses by WestQuay and walk the short distance (it’s all signposted) to the pedestrian store entrance.

shopping the ikea way

IKEA has become a shopping favourite, but we want to take the stress out of trying to heave huge boxes into your car, fighting for car parking spaces and wasting your day sat in traffic queues. Going there with Bluestar makes so much sense.

If you haven’t shopped at IKEA before, here’s some tips…

  • Start by making a list of the things you need for your home or business. You can browse online for items you like and check their availability.
  • On arrival, pick up a pencil, pad, tape measure and yellow bag and you're ready to go.
  • Smaland, the supervised playroom will keep the kids happy while you shop.
  • Try things out in the showroom. You can pick up red ticket items in Self Serve so note the location and article numbers on your shopping list.
  • If the item has a yellow ticket, contact a member of staff at an information tower.
  • When you get to the market hall, grab a trolley for smaller items.
  • When you get to the Self Serve area, find the items you noted down and help yourself.
  • Once you've checked out you can find IKEA’s Home Delivery desk or have a well-deserved famous IKEA hot dog!
