2018 Go South Coast’s Bus Driver of the Year regional heat

Tuesday, June 05 2018

Last Sunday, the 3rd of June, saw the 2018 Go South Coast Bus Driver of the Year regional heat take place at the Salisbury livestock market.  With an impressive turn out of 24 contestants throughout Go South Coast, the competition was fierce and the stakes were high. Drivers were testing their skills while judges based their decision on a range of criteria - including professionalism at work and stand out skills during manoeuvres.

We were thrilled with the dedication and talent that was present throughout the competition on Sunday and we feel that not only did the contestants do the company proud, but they also did themselves proud. And that dedication and talent paid off, as 3 of the top 5 spaces were filled by Bluestar and Unilink drivers.

“We are justifiably proud of our drivers across all Go South Coast operators, so the top five of this annual award have to be very special,” said managing director of Go South Coast, Andrew Wickham.

The top five drivers from Go South Coast will be put forward to take part in a national awards event, due to take place in Blackpool later this year.

Unilink winner Dominic, has worked for the company for 5 years and 9 months. This year was his first time competing in the Bus Driver of the Year competition, and he received a very impressive score of 460. He is due to marry fellow Unilink driver Becky next year, they are looking to spend Dominic's prize of £1000 on a holiday.
