Bluestar to run Richard Taunton Sixth Form College bus services

Thursday, March 01 2018

We are now providing bus services for students at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College.

Bluestar has been awarded the Richard Taunton Sixth Form College contract and will now be taking over the running of three college routes - the 901, 903 and 903A - under contract until July 2023.

Our head of communications Nikki Honer has commented that “We are thrilled to be beginning what promises to be a very successful relationship with Richard Taunton Sixth Form College,”

“It’s important that students benefit from reliable and comfortable transport to and from college, and this new partnership will provide just that. Our drivers are pleased to be transporting their new passengers over the next five years, ensuring they enjoy a top quality service.”

Graeme Kiloh, director of estates for the lighthouse learning trust, added: “We decided to partner with Bluestar because the company has a strong reputation in and around the city, offers real value for money and, due to its large fleet of modern buses that also have WiFi, is able to effectively resource all our contracted routes.

“It is particularly appealing to our students due to the fact that they can use their flexi ticket outside of college commuting hours. We are looking forward to entering into a long-term working relationship with Bluestar.”

Passes for these routes are issued directly by the college and, from September 2018, students will benefit from additional access to Bluestar’s general network at weekends and during holidays.

Summary of the routes:

901 - from Hamble, Netley, Sholing, Bitterne and Portswood
903 - from Langley, Blackfield, Holbury and Totton
903A - from Hythe and Marchwood
