Giving you more time to enjoy your journey onboard the Bluestar 1

Repairs to Bassett Avenue start on Sunday 11th of February and will likely mean longer journey times into Southampton on our Bluestar 1 service, so we want to know how you will be spending your extra time on board.

Take full advantage of our free WIFI, luxury seating, tables and USB ports - the possibilities are endless.

It gives you the perfect excuse to watch that movie you’ve been trying to make time for, respond to those emails or even search for that dream holiday.

Tell us what you'll do with your extra journey time to be entered into a draw to WIN a month’s FREE bus travel! To enter, tweet us @bluestarHQ and use the hashtag #myroadworksB1trip!

What will I need to do?

If you are travelling from Winchester, Otterbourne or Chandler's Ford towards Southampton, you may want to consider catching your bus slightly earlier than you do now. Unfortunately, due to the resurfacing of the road, the Bluestar 1 will take longer than usual. For example, if you normally catch the 0755 from Chandler's Ford, catching the 0737 would ensure you arrive at your destination on time.

We have added extra resources into the network to help with reliability and punctuality as this will affect all days of the week commencing Sunday 11th February 2018 for up to 8 weeks.

The work will be carried out in two phases:

Phase 1 - Inbound only Closure - Starting 20:00hrs on Sunday 11 February - 24/7 closure - for up to 4 weeks

Phase 2 - Full overnight road closure - Starting 20:00hrs on Monday 12 March - Overnight (20:00-06:00) - for up to 4 weeks

How will my bus be affected?

Phase 1 - 11th February for 4-weeks:

We estimate that it will take an additional 10 to 15 minutes journey time into Southampton from Winchester and additional buses will be on hand to maintain reliability. Throughout phase 1, your Bluestar 1 bus will be diverting via Bassett Green Road, Stoneham Lane and Burgess Road.

Travelling southbound towards Southampton? We will be unable serve stops between Chilworth Roundabout and Bassett Crossroads, so you will need to use the bus stops at Hilton Hotel, Chilworth or the Global Technology Centre on Burgess Road near the junction with The Avenue.

Phase 2 - 12th March for 2-weeks:

This is a full overnight road closure (inbound and out), so buses will be running via Bassett Green Road, Stoneham Lane and Burgess Road in both directions. We expect it will take an additional 10 minutes into Southampton and towards Winchester. Again, extra resources are available to maintain reliability and punctuality.
